It seems that society is ready to address what we as women go through as we crash into middle age. I feel strongly that the effects of being 40-something can be life-changing for women and we need some support!
For many women, perimenopause creeps up on us without us even knowing what is happening. Primary healthcare is variable from GP to GP and while some of us receive excellent care, many women are still denied care based on being ‘too young’, ‘depressed’, ‘symptoms not serious enough’ or ‘the wrong symptoms’. Anti-depressants are often wrongly prescribed for symptoms of perimenopause such as low mood and anxiety.
I know from experience that when perimenopause comes along, it can often coincide with other pivotal moments in our lives. From children leaving home to parents needing extra care, being over 40 can be a time when we question who we are, what we have done so far and how we want to spend the next 50 years of our lives. It can be a frightening and lonely time, causing anxiety, sleepless nights and insecurity as we think about who we are.
I offer Menopause Counselling to women who are struggling in any area of their lives. I will sit with you and explore your feelings around what is happening with empathy and entirely without judgement.
I want to give you the confidence to find who you truly are so that you can live a happy life. For many of us, life really does begin at 40 – let me help you find your best life!
I offer Menopause Counselling from counselling rooms in Coleford, Gloucestershire; Court Farm Lakes, Woolaston; & Forest Ecotherapy (Walk & Talk) in the Forest of Dean. I also offer Menopause Counselling online. Sessions cost £50 for 50 minutes.
